The United States Department of Defense authorized the use of the Blue Star Banners or flags to support our active service personnel during this War on Terror. Originally designed by Captain R.L. Queisser, the banner was copyrighted in 1917. The legal title was transferred to the government and authorized use only under the discretion of the Department of Defense. The banner was revived during World War II and subsequently used during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. The Blue Star on the banner represents a family member who is active in the military service. A separate star on the banner represents individual family members.
In 1967, the United States Congress codified the manufacture and use of the banner. To legally manufacture the banner or flag, a company must receive a license through the Department of Defense. Flags International is honored to hold a license to produce these banners. Each banner is hand cut and sewn by specification. The banners we produce are a true double-sided banner, meaning the white field and stars appear on both sides.
This Blue Star Banner is the official size (8” x 15”) for the Service Banner. The banner has one sewn star. Support your family members with Blue Star Banners from Flags International. |
