Historical Flags

History remembers the United States being founded on the virtues of freedom and independence through revolution.  Our country, like so many others, has transitioned its' national symbol over the years.  Our flag, unlike any other country in the world, actually has a code of laws governing it's use and display.  But where did it come from?  How many variations of the flag has there been through our country's history?  Ask Flags International!  Historical flags of the United States all have special meaning for the periods they represent.  The Don't Tread on Me Gadsden flag is the most easily recognized flag.  The yellow background and coiled rattlesnake are different symbols our country identifies as a standard that we stand against those the oppose us as a nation.  This symbolic flag has again become a calling card of the people using it as a symbol of their voice against the decisions of our present government and the needs of the people to be heard.

The Kings Colors flag was first used in Jamestown and actually appears on our first unofficial flag during the Revolutionary War on the Grand Union flag, also known as the Continental Colors.  Over two hundred years of history and change has given us the most unique collection of flags the world has ever seen.  Even our own Civil War has granted us with a history of flags recognizable to everyone.  Many of our historical flags are still being flown today.  The United States Flag Code can also be found through our website.  Ask the historical flag experts at Flags International for information on these historical flags or simply click on our informational link on our home page.
